please don't let the hippo sit on me!

(windhoek, namibia) some random statistics from the namibian newspaper for ya:
  • about 27% of food in developed countries is wasted each year. It's simply thrown away.
  • almost 1.2 billion people are underfed - the same number of people who are overweight to the point of obesity.
  • one in 10 people in the world live on an island.
  • the chance of being born on a leap day is about 684 out of a million, or 1 in 1461.
  • there are more than 600 million telephone lines, yet almost half the world's population has never made a phone call on a land line.
  • more than half the world's population has made a cellphone call. there are more than 2 billion cellphones in use.
random quote from the same newspaper:
"the greatest good you can do to another is not just to share your riches,
but reveal to him his own."
- Benjamin Disraeli (1804 - 1881), was a british conservative statesman and literary figure. he served in government for three decades, twice as prime minister.

PS: i'm going camping about two hours away to the north in the mountains this weekend. hope that i don't get eaten by snakes or lions and that a hippo doesn't sit on me.

Just remember if a snake bites you, get someone to suck the poison out of wound (I know what I'm talking about... I've seen it in movies)
