(spitzkoppe, namibia) i don't mean to discredit the motherland but as soon as i saw these amazing rock structures, all i thought was i'm sure there are plenty of places like this is america. what makes it distinct is to know that this is where it started. to be able to touch a rock and say 'this is a rock that my ancestors touched, this is what the oldest of our kind experienced everyday.' it's great that your senses awaken in africa and you appreciate everything for what it is. it's sad however, that your senses don't perk up in your everyday surroundings (mine being america). you take things for granted. every place has history, every place is special.
